Welcome Larry Scruggs, Security Chair

Greetings,

My name is Larry Scruggs. My wife (Pat) and I moved to Timbergrove in 1997 after accepting a position with Rice University in the Facility, Engineering and Planning Division as a Control Technician. We liked the location due to its central location, inside the Loop 610, and it would only be a 15-minute drive to Rice University. We previously lived in Bayou Vista, down by Galveston. We are “Empty Nesters,” as our three children have since moved out and started their own families. I retired from Rice University as a Digital Control Technician / Quality Control (HVAC) in 2018.

I am a member of the Timbergrove Citizen Patrol Group. I am concerned with the crime taking place within our neighborhood. I download the crime statistics from the HPD website and look for dates and times of any crime in our neighborhood. I then adjust my patrolling times to this information. One of the areas I believe the Citizens Patrol Group assists HPD with is the Bryce Park area. We were noticing a lot of activity in the parking area of Bryce Park. The Citizens Patrol started reporting this activity to 311 about large gatherings of cars between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. Those gatherings have stopped. I would like to post helpful topics in the Timbergram concerning how to protect our properties within the neighborhood, along with the crime statistics. This information would be beneficial to all neighbors.

Sincerely,

Larry Scruggs
