Patterns in the Life of Jaycee Park

A cool front brought out the best of the neighborhood in Jaycee Park on Saturday, Oct. 12th. Patterns of life were evident:

A birthday party, complete with piñata.

A trio of boys helped by their eldest brother, all hanging from the chin up bars simultaneously, small, medium, large.

A couple in a gentle embrace on the park bench, perhaps recovering from an illness, and then a gentle walk out, with his arm wrapped protectively around her shoulders.

A dad encouraging his son’s attempts to pump himself on the swings.

Running, laughing children

Adults playing dodgeball on the tennis courts

A picnic blanket full of food and folks

I saw all these folks, but took no pictures of people, other than smiles in my mind. I was transfixed instead by the puzzles and patterns of geometry, of light playing on the playground, of the juxtaposition of perspective and play. The mechanics of the play structure require interaction with people to make the place come alive. Alive it was on Saturday.
