Run the Grove Benefits W. 11th St. Park

If you haven’t already signed up for the “Run the Grove” 5K fun run, you might give it some thought. Sponsored by the Timbergrove Manor Neighborhood Association, this event will be held on Saturday, April 18th. The starting point will be on West 11th Street directly across the street from West 11th Street Park and the finish line will be at the ball field on the Shirkmere side of the park. There will be food trucks, informational booths, kid events, etc. at the ball field after the event.  The race has been certified by the U.S. Track & Field Association. This is the first time for the “Run the Grove” race, which TMNA hopes will become an annual event. The registration fee is $25 per adult runner and $15 per child runner (15 & under).

We are excited about this event because part of the proceeds will be coming directly to West 11th Street Park to benefit our Trail Fund! It will also mean that a lot of people who may not have been to the park before will be coming out to see it for the first time. For more information or to register for the race, go to www.tmnaonline.org/run-the-grove .

Watch out!

By the time this issue of the Timbergram reaches your doorstep, we will be into the beginning of the spring bird migration. Dozens of colorful species of birds—warblers, buntings, orioles, tanagers, and more—will  be returning from their winter hiatus in Central and South America, stopping briefly to rest at West 11th Street Park before heading north.   March and April are the best times to catch a glimpse of these gorgeous birds. Grab your binoculars and come on out to the park!
