A reminder and more information about the TMCC general meeting on May 12 at 7:00 p.m. in Sinclair Elementary’s Cafeteria. Harvin Moore, our HISD Board of Education District VII trustee, will be our guest speaker. Mr. Moore will talk to us about Sinclair’s funding: last year’s magnet cuts, the offsets Mr. Moore obtained for Sinclair, and future funding.
At this TMCC meeting on May 12, Mr. Moore will also bring us up-to-date on the rezoning proposal that is once again slated for a vote at the HISD board meeting, two days later, on May 14 at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Auditorium at 4400 West 18th Street. The largest area that stands to be impacted is Shady Acres, not Timbergrove or Lazybrook. However, rezoning will impact the Sinclair community and what affects Sinclair affects our neighborhoods and vice versa. Mr. Moore has been given a list of pre-submitted questions and we’re hoping time permits impromptu questions from attendees. All interested residents from Timbergrove and surrounding neighborhoods & communities are welcome to hear what Mr. Moore has to tell us about these important issues.
Maps of Sinclair’s Current & Proposed attendance boundaries are linked below; these maps are from the HISD website.
Sinclair Principal Abby Taylor and Magnet Coordinator Evan Grossman are planning to be at the TMCC May 12 meeting to speak to us briefly about the importance of enrolling early for the next school year.
An HPD Storefront Officer will provide local crime stats and prevention tips.
Pizza & soda at 6:30 p.m.; speakers at 7:00 p.m.; TMCC regular committee reports will follow the speakers.
